John B. Sutherland

John B. Sutherland

Dad was involved in Scouting most of his life. He was a Cubmaster and troop committee chairman who led week long hikes in in the Olympic and Cascade mountains, founder and Skipper of the Bothell Sea Scout ship "Wanderlust", and Eastside District Commissioner who started several new Cub scout packs. He was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1968 for distinguished service to Chief Seattle Council. As a father, he got involved in leadership roles with each of his two sons, who achieved the ranks of Eagle and Life Scout.

Dad's bequest represents his hope that Scouting will continue to be a strong force in building the character of young people in the Seattle area.
